What We Do
We rent out 28 workspaces, commonly known as ‘windows,’ to self-employed sex workers, ensuring they can practice their profession safely. Our mission is to create safe and high-quality workplaces for sex workers.
Who Whe Are and What We Believe
We believe that everyone for whom sex work is a free choice has the right to a safe and licensed workplace. Our team of supervisors are all from the Queer community or have close ties to it. This creates an optimally safe environment for our renters, with an understanding of the stigmas they experience. This also ensures that transgender sex workers feel well-understood and welcome at our company, something we are very proud of. We actively work towards the destigmatization of sex work. We believe that one of the best ways to achieve this is by being transparent about what we do and how we do it, simply by showing the reality to the public, journalists, politicians, administrators, policymakers, students, and others. Additionally, we participate in various discussions with the municipality, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Justice to provide our input on how the position of sex workers can be improved. We are also part of the 'Werkplaats Sociaal Domein' collaboration with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Leiden University of Applied Sciences.
Our History
We were founded in 2021 and, due to the corona measures, opened a few months later on February 1, 2022. Our first fourteen windows were previously part of the municipal brothel 'My Red Light,' which went bankrupt. In the fall of 2022, we expanded with three buildings (ten windows) from 'Red Rooms.' After a thorough renovation, we opened these windows on February 1, 2023. In July 2024, we further expanded with a building on Bloedstraat with four additional rooms.
Safety Standards
All our rooms are equipped with panic buttons, allowing our supervisors, who are always nearby, to respond immediately if a sex worker feels unsafe. Thanks to our close collaboration and direct line with local police, emergency services can be quickly deployed when necessary.
Quality
We prioritize the high quality of our rooms. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and LED lighting that can be adjusted to various colors. The rooms feature a warm and welcoming atmosphere, comfortable beds, and are maintained with the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Preventing Exploitation
Sex workers can earn significant amounts of money, which increases the risk of others wanting to take advantage of them, potentially leading to exploitation. We are realistic about these risks and are committed to keeping exploitation at bay. We go beyond our legal duty of care to ensure the safety and well-being of our renters.
We work closely with the police prostitution team and the municipality for this purpose. Our efforts exceed what is legally required of us: our supervisors undergo specialized training to recognize signs of exploitation, we consult with agencies on how to improve procedures, and we use the latest digital technologies to conduct risk analyses. In the event of a sign of exploitation, we do not proceed with the rental of our rooms. This commitment ensures that we uphold the highest standards of safety and ethical practices at all times.
